To anyone interested in getting into this hobby: BUY ONE OF THE MULTI-NEEDLED PENS, going right into this craft with only a single needlepoint will leave you with a sore wrist and lowered morale. Needle-felting is a very time consuming thing, even when you’re used to the work, and it helps speed the process along and keep you from getting fatigued/discouraged. Getting a multi-needled pen is well worth the little extra expense (typically it’s a plastic or rubber handle with slots to insert usually 1-5 of the special felting needles like the one in the video, and yes felting needles are specifically made for this craft and you functionally cannot needle-felt without one) and I recommend buying a cheap pack of foam sponges to use as your working surface. They will wear out and eventually need replaced, but I find them much easier to work with than most harder foam boards that come in needle-felting kits. Now I say none of this to dissuade anyone from entering the hobby, because I personally love to use the medium, I just want anyone interested in getting into it to know what I wished I knew when I first went in.
